How does this affect you?

In version 1.0.29 (October 2020), you can choose to split the CardioLog Analytics SaaS dataset in Power BI to several datasets (by quarters) in order to reduce the dataset size and improve performance (optional).

Out of the box Power BI reports are will be updated automatically. Custom reports and/or out of the box report copies should be updated manually.

If you use one or more of the removed columns/measures in your have custom reports and/or in out of the box report copies, follow the instructions below to update your reports.

If you use one or more of the updated columns/measures in your custom reports and/or in out of the box report copies, no action is needed.

How to prepare for this change?

Custom reports and/or out of the box report copies : will be broken after the update:To fix a broken visual, edit the report by clicking the Edit button, select the broken visual which currently uses the removed column/measure and replace it with the new/updated column/measure.

To update your reports, install Power BI Desktop on your workstation

and contact Intlock Support to allow access from your workstation's public IP address to the CardioLog Analytics SaaS Azure SQL database.

 

In version 1.0.29, you can choose to split the CardioLog Analytics SaaS dataset to several datasets (by quarters) in order to reduce the dataset size and improve performance. In order to  In order to link your custom reports to the new datasets (by quarters), follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the your custom report in Power BI web service and download the report .pbix file by clicking File > Download the .pbix file



    Note: In case the .pbix file fails to download due to the dataset size, contact Intlock Support.

  2. Open the .pbix file in Power BI Desktop. Open Power Query by clicking on Transform data > Transform data.



  3. On the left Queries pane, select the 1 – SharePoint Usage table and open the Advanced Editor popup window by clicking on Advanced editor.



  4. Edit the query and add _Q1 at the end of V_PBI_FactEventLogAndSocialActivity_V1023_Q1. Click Done.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the following tables:
    5 - SharePoint Usage | Visits - add _Q1 at the end of V_SSAS_Visits_Q1
    5 - API | Custom Events - add _Q1 at the end of V_ExtendedApiMetadata_Q1



  6. Save your changes by clicking on Close & Apply > Close & Apply.



  7. Edit the dataset source by clicking on Transform data > Data source settings.



  8. Click on Change Source… enter the Server and Database names and click OK > Done. Contact Intlock Support to receive your database details.



  9. On the top ribbon click on Refresh, enter the User name and Password in the SQL Server Database popup window and click Connect. The data refresh process will start immediately. Contact Intlock Support to receive your database credentials. 

     

     

  10. When the data refresh process is complete, save the file as CustomReportName_Q1.pbix.

  11. Create 3 additional files from “NameCopy the CustomReportName_Q1.pbix” and named them “Namepbix file and create 3 additional files named CustomReportName_Q2.pbix”pbix, “Name CustomReportName_Q3.pbix”pbix, “Name CustomReportName_Q4.pbix”.

  1. pbix.

  2. Open each file and repeat steps 2 - 6 (Power BI will remember your database credentials). Edit the query for each table and add the proper extension _Q2, _Q3, _Q4 accordingly.
  3. Click on Refresh and save the .pbix file.
  4. Publish the custom report to Power BI web service by opening the CustomReportName_Q1.pbix file and clicking on Publish. Enter your CardioLog Analytics SaaS workspace in Publish to Power BI popup window the and click Select. Once the publish process is done your custom report will be available in the Power BI web service.
  5. Repeat step 14 for CustomReportName_Q2.pbix, CustomReportName_Q3.pbix, CustomReportName_Q4.pbix.
  6. Repeat steps 1 - 15 for each custom report.
