- Create the custom user information web service for your organization.
- Verify that the custom user information web service returns a valid XML response, according to the XML schema, and that the CardioLog Scheduling Service user account has sufficient permissions to access (request) the web service.
- Browse CardioLog > Administration > CardioLog Scheduling Service In the navigation pane in CardioLog go to Administration > System Configuration > User Categories Updates.
- Click Next.
- Enter the web service URL in the Categories Web Service URL field (acceptable file extensions: "aspx", "asmx", "xml").
- Click Save and restart the CardioLog Scheduling Service.
- Perform IISRESET using the IIS Manager on the CardioLog application server.
- After the next run of the User User Categories Updates service, your user categories will be added to the Visitor Segments filter of each report, under User Categories.

CardioLog provides the ability to segment visitors by any custom category. The User Categories Updates service component retrieves the list of custom categories from a designated web service.
To configure visitor segmentation by Active Directory attributes or by SharePoint user profiles, see User Categories Management.
In the Administration pane, clickIf you would like to change the frequency of updates or when user categories will update simply:
- In the navigation pane, click Administration and then click CardioLog Scheduling Service.
- Click User Categories Updates.
- Set the schedule type and then click Next.
- In the Service Parameters dialog, fill out the following fields:
- Categories Web Service URL
Example: "http://<CardioLog server name>:<port>/VisitorSegments/SSPProfiles.aspx"
- Web Method Name - optional
- User Name - optional
- Password - optional - Click OK to confirm your choices.
- Click Restart Service to activate any changes.
- OK.
