This report displays the average number of page views your SharePoint website receives over time. A page view is a single instance of a page being loaded by a browser. Each view of the same SharePoint page by the same visitor , including any time a visitor refreshes a page, is counted as an independent page view.

The average is calculated according to the value selected in the "Time Interval" field as follows:

  •  Hour - Average number of unique users page views per minute
  • Day - Average number of unique users of page views per hour
  • Week - Average number of unique users number of page views per day
  • Month - Average number of unique users of page views per day
  • Quarter - Average number of unique users of page views per month
  • Year - Average number of unique users of page views per month

For example, if the date range of the report is "Last Month" and:

  • The Time Interval is "Day", the average number of unique users page views will be calculated per hour of the day, and displayed for each day of the month.
  • The Time Interval is "Week", the average number of unique users page views will be calculated per day, and displayed for each week of the month.

Therefore, when the Time Interval is "Day" and a user visits the site in the morning and in the afternoon, they will be counted in the total number of unique visitors for each hour. If a user visits twice in the same hour though, they will be counted only once in that hour. Similarly, for each week of the month we count the total number of unique visitors per day and calculate the average in that week, so if a user visits the site in the morning and in the afternoon on a given day, they will be counted once.
